Packaged coconut milk and coconut cream — UHT, bottled or in sachets — tend to split: coconut fat rises to the top, water settles at the bottom, and the consumer sees a separated, thin product. The same happens in oat, soy, almond and coconut milks, where fibre and protein slowly settle at the bottom of the pack.
Blanose CMC is a water-soluble hydrocolloid (also known as Na-CMC, cellulose gum or E466) that binds water and keeps fat and particles evenly distributed. The result: coconut milk that stays homogeneous through its shelf life, a thicker and creamier body, and smooth plant-based milks without sediment. In coconut whipping cream, CMC helps keep the foam stable.
The Blanose grade is chosen to suit your product and process. Our team helps select the grade, sends samples and supports trials before production. Dosage and grade are discussed directly with our team because every formulation is different. See the Blanose CMC page for the full grade range.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does packaged coconut milk split and separate?
Coconut milk is an emulsion of coconut fat in water that is not naturally stable. During storage and temperature changes the fat rises and the water settles. A stabiliser such as Blanose CMC binds water and keeps the fat dispersed so the coconut milk stays homogeneous.
Is Blanose CMC halal and food grade?
Yes. Blanose CMC from Ashland is food grade and halal certified. Copies of the halal certificate, COA and specification are available on request.
Can I get a sample for coconut milk or plant-based milk trials?
Yes. Chemifin provides Blanose CMC samples for trials, and our team helps choose the grade that suits your product and process.
What is the packaging and minimum order?
Blanose CMC is packed in 25 kg bags. Stock is held in Jakarta and Surabaya; contact us for pricing and minimum order. Contact info@chemifin.com or WhatsApp 0811 154 343.
Can CMC be combined with Benecel for barista drinks?
Yes. CMC gives body and keeps particles suspended, while Benecel HPMC helps build and stabilise foam. Our team can recommend a suitable combination.
